Student Bursaries
We have some bursaries - awarded by EPSRC - to support research students in attending the Symposium.
- What the bursaries Cover?
Each bursary covers the £45/£55 registration cost plus travel up to a maximum of £95/£85. - Who is eligible?
Any postgraduate student registered at a UK academic institution for an MPhil or PhD who does not have access to alternative EPSRC funding for travel. - How to apply:
If you are a PG student: In the first instance by email to Frans Coenen at frans@csc.liv.ac.uk giving:
(i) Your name and academic address,
(ii) The name and contact email of your supervisor.
(iii) Your area of research and (if not obvious) its relevance to KDD.
Your supervisor will then be contacted and asked to confirm that: (a) you are registered for a postgraduate degree at a UK academic institution and (b) that you are not in receipt of alternative EPSRC travel funding.
If you are the supervisor of a PG student who you wish to attend the UKKDD symposium: email Frans Coenen at frans@csc.liv.ac.uk giving:
(i) The name and academic address of the student,
(ii) The student's area of research and (if not obvious) its relevance to KDD, and
(iii) Confirming that the student: (a) is registered for a postgraduate degree at a UK academic institution and (b) is not in receipt of alternative EPSRC travel funding. - Awards will be made according to the following criteria.
(i) "First come first served"
(ii) Number of applications from a single institution (we wish to spread the bursaries across as many institutions as possible)
(iii) Relevance of research to the symposium (In the past we have received applications from people without any obvious interest in KDD). - A student who has been awarded a bursary will still be expected to register for the symposium in the normal way and then reclaim the registration fee together with a travel claim (more details on this later).
